IVO FORMIGARO is one of the founding partners of Bettini Formigaro Pericu and works in the Milan, Cremona and Cape Town offices.

After  having developed his expertise as in-house counsel of a leading Italian electricity and gas utility, he headed the Energy & Public Utilities office in a prominent US law firm. He then founded the legal boutique STLT in 2004.

As an acknowledged expert in the energy sector, local public utilities (gas, water and waste) and environmental law, he assists major domestic and European players in these sectors, handling regulatory and corporate matters, including cross-border contracts and corporate/M&A transactions.

 Mr Ivo Formigaro’s clients rely on his experience as lawyer of more than twenty years with special area of expertise that focuses on negotiation and drafting of cooperation framework agreements and joint venture agreements, as well as contracts for the supply of public services, the establishment of  utility companies for the management of those services, merger transactions involving local public authorities or companies owned by these authorities related to the public services sector and preparation of tender documents for the privatisation of public utilities by transfer of shares to private parties.

Mr. Formigaro acts also as advisor in Italy and abroad in conventional and renewable energy projects, including the development of natural gas production and storage facilities, LNG plants and participation in domestic and international tenders in the field of energy and strategic infrastructure. He also assists clients in administrative litigation, with particular regard to claims involving regulators (i.e. ARERA, AGCM and ANAC), as well as in arbitration procedures.

He also advises in the area of administrative procedures connected with urban planning and zoning, construction and public procurement. He has served as member of the board of directors of public utility companies.

Since 2013 Formigaro has been coordinating BFP’s activity for the Southern African region, operating in BFP’s Cape Town office and advising companies in international tenders, cross-border joint ventures and project financing, with particular regard to the energy and infrastructure sectors.

 He graduated from the University of Milan in 1988 and has been a member of the Milan Bar Association since 1995. He was admitted to argue before the Italian Supreme Court in 2008.
